We're Morgane and Norbis, the owners of Cafe Azucar. Our story is similar to a lot of people who decided to settle in Costa Rica.
We came on holidays from London where we lived for 8 years, fell in love with this piece of paradise and 6 months later we came back, settled down and set up the restaurant.
The concept of Cafe Azucar is strongly linked to our cultural and professional backgrounds.

I am French and therefore very attached to the Cafe culture you find in France. Strong coffee and good food is a must for me and we thought that Cobano being the commercial hub of the Nicoya Peninsula, it would be a great idea to create a Cafe where expats and ticos can meet and enjoy good food and coffee.
My professional background is not directly related to the catering & hospitality business. However my business administration & marketing experience, gained in companies like KPMG or dotcom consultancies, comes handy to manage and promote the cafe/restaurant. Contact me at: |

I am Cuban, which explains why when you come to Cafe Azucar, you will surely listen to Celia Cruz and her famous Azucar song. To tell you the truth before living Cuba, I did not know how to cook but destiny made me meet my future wife and within less than a year I found myself in London where I worked in very trendy places for over 7 years and taught myself how to cook.
My experience at was a key turning point in my life. Boisdale of Belgravia is this traditional Scottish place where you just eat the best Angus meat and salmon in London. There I learnt about gourmet and fine dining cooking. I also spent a bit of time in the pastry section and in Cafe Azucar you can find these delicious French pastries such as pear & almond tart, chocolate mousse, creme brulee or tarte tatin.
My aim with Cafe Azucar is to introduce expats and Ticos to a very different type of cuisine strongly influenced by Europe and the Mediterranean cuisine. Contact me at: |
